Maintenance Steps1. Sanitize: Chlorine ProTeam tabs, pucks or sticks in Skimmer or Chlorinator 2. Shock: 1pound per 10,000 gallons every two weeks for regular maintenance. If the pool is cloudy or green, bring a water sample (1 pt. of water) into Poolmart & Spas for directions on how to cure your water problem. 3. Algaecide: Prevent Algae growth with the proper recommended dose for your size swimming pool every week. Always wait 12 hours after shocking the pool.
D.E. Filters only need to be backwashed about once a month if the pool has remained clear. Always check the return flow, if it is strong then don't backwash. If the flow is weak, it is a good indication that it is time to backwash and reapply new D.E. D.E. filters pull out a 2 - 3 micron size particle from the water. They are the most efficient filter made. At the end of the season, tear apart your filter, clean your grids. lube up your o-rings, and re-assemble. Come next spring you will have barely any work! Sand Filters work best when they are plugged up because the dirt fills in the gaps between the sand pellets. Sand Filters only clean up about a 30 micron size particle. Sand should be changed every 3 years. Over time the grooves on the sand pieces become rounded and no longer capture the particles. Cartridge filters need to be cleaned about every two weeks or more frequently if the pool is cloudy or green. Soak your filter in Filter Cleaner over night or Spray on full concentrate and let stand for 15 minutes. Rinse until clean and the filter is no longer sudsy. Filters generally need to be replaced once a season. Cartridge filters clean a 12 micron size particle from the water. Chlorination and Filtration is the key to clear pool. Always keep chlorine in the pool. The test should read around 3 to 5 ppm. Running the filter at least 12 hours a day is important for circulation. Without proper recirculation, the pool will remain cloudy or green. If the chemicals are all balanced properly and the pool is not clearing, then check the filter for problems. Proper ph level for
a swimming pool is between 7.4 and 7.6. Alkalinity in Southeastern
Michigan runs high. Don't be alarmed if your test reads high or very.
Those level readings are the correct readings for this region. If you were
reading ok on the test strips, we would boost your level higher so the water is
at a stable level for this region. Alkalinity should read 150 - 240 ppm!
