What is ProTeam Supreme and how does it work?
ProTeam Supreme is a Sodium tetraborate pentahydrate (Boron) mineral. When first added to water this product will increase the pH level up to 9.4. It must be counteracted with acid to bring the pH level to 7.4, the correct level of pH for the pool. ProTeam Supreme Plus is pH neutral; no need to add acid. Boron's contribute to softening of hard water by tying up (complexing) calcium, as well as act as a buffer. Boron, makes all forms of algae incapable of processing carbon dioxide, which is needed for algae to live and grow. This will save chlorine used in your pool, because half the chlorine in your pool is used to kill algae. In a sense, your pool becomes it’s own algaecide.
ProTeam Supreme & Supreme Plus will not evaporate out of your pool. It will only be lost through backwashing, splashing water out of the pool, and draining the pool. Annual touch-up treatments may be necessary in the beginning of the season to reach the correct borate level, which is between 50 and 100 ppm.
