Bromine Spa Start-Up

There are as many ways to care for your spa as there are spas sellers, dealers, 
chemical manufactures, neighbors, friends, guys at work with neighbors who have 
a spa, and of course . . . Good ole’ “If we screw it up, we’ll fix it” Poolmart.

First off, let’s get it into the light that a spa is not something to be ignored. 
It can be a very dangerous toy if used improperly. That ho body of water can be 
a primordial soup of harmful critters that can cause some very serious illnesses, 
pneumonia, legionnaire's disease, staph infections to name a few. There is 
absolutely no reason to be concerned with any of these if you follow a few simples 
rules. The most important of which is... 

DON’T GET IN THE SPA UNLESS YOU KNOW IT HAS A GOOD SANITIZER LEVEL!!

O.K. let’s get started….

Fill your new spa with fresh water. You may use hard or soft water. Soft water simply 
makes it a whole lot easier. If you are re-filling, make sure you have done all your 
housekeeping shores such as cleaning the cartridges, polishing the spa’s finish to 
remove the oxidized finish, and whatever else needs caring for.

Now, for the Proteam Gentle Spa System (replaces the BioGuard Spa Sentry System)

1. If you have an iron problem add a double dose of Stain and Scale control or Metal Magic 
   as you are filling up the tub.

2. When filled, add the entire bottle of Proteam Gentle Spa. The bottle recommends weekly 
   doses, but to make it easier on yourself add it all at one time. It will not change the 
   effectiveness of this product.

3. Run Spa at half or low speed for at least an hour. Then...

4. Add the packet of Sodium Bromide to build up the bromide bank so the Bromine tabs will 
   sanitize properly.

5. Add a packet or cap full of Spa Shock or Enhanced Shock. Now…

6. Fill the Bromine Floater and put it in the spa.

7. Let the system run until the water is clear or up to desired temperature.

8. If your spa does not clear up within 24 hours, use water clarifier and run at low speeds 
   until clear. Also, check your cartridge filters and clean them as often as necessary until 
   spa clears.

9. Now you are all set. Enjoy! You shouldn't have to do anything except refill (if using) when 
   needed and shock occasionally (every 4 to 5 uses or if less weekly)

10. Add Spa Perfect per label instructions to enhance water clarity, reduce foaming and oils, 
    and keeping the filter cleaner.

11. A couple of times a week, check your spa chemistry with the tests strips. If LOW reading 
    shows on ANY of the colors, adjust immediately.
