1.
CHLORINE Maintain a 3 - 5 ppm chlorine level all the time by
keeping chlorine sticks in the skimmer basket, Chlorine Sticks, pucks,
or tabs in an automatic chlorinator. 2. SHOCK Every two weeks the pool needs to be shocked to oxidize all invisible algae spores (it takes 30 million spores of algae to be visible to the human eye), kill any bacteria present, and break down solids such as lotions, makeup, and body oils. If the pool bather load is heavy, the weather has been extremely warm or rainy, or there is a lot of organic loading, more frequent shock treatments may be needed. 3. ALGAECIDE Apply algaecide every week to provide additional help in preventing algae from growing in the pool. (This step must be done at least 12 hours after shocking the pool.)
